About You
I work with adults navigating life transitions, managing anxiety or depression, or living with chronic illnesses that impact their daily activities and responsibilities. I also support individuals who are reconnecting with their cultural roots and healing from the effects of assimilation into the dominant culture. Additionally, I work with professionals striving to find balance between their personal and professional lives, offering guidance and support for a more harmonious journey.
The above are just some examples of the types of issues I’ve worked with. If you are open to new ideas and experiences and are curious about how therapy can help you, I would love to help you find the strength and power within yourself and to harness that power for good.
About Me
For many years, I was trying to pave my path into the nursing field. In my time working in healthcare research and caregiving, I realized what I really wanted to was to connect with people while they were most vulnerable. In healthcare, the most vulnerable are those who are trying to navigate and survive in a country built on white supremacy and capitalism. When I looked into the field of social work and saw all the ways I could possibly contribute to tearing down the status quo, even if it was in tiny ways. My core values would not have to take a back seat in my profession anymore and I knew that the helping field was where I wanted to be.
As a social worker, I have had extensive experience working with people in the medical system. From helping a family grieve the loss of their loved one to sitting with someone in the hospital who has to adjust to their new life with a new diagnosis or loss. I work closely with a population of adults who have a rare disease and provide behavioral health support, support in life transitions, and support with navigating their complex disease. Most of all, my social work career is built upon my values of anti-racism, anti-oppression, and health equity.
What You Can Expect
My practice is grounded in anti-racism and anti-oppression and I use a trauma-informed approach with all my clients. I aim to make our time and space together as trauma informed as possible from intake to ongoing sessions to termination. I will work with you to identify what is your most pressing need and we will work from there.
I like to start by acknowledging it may seem like there is a power differential in our work together, but reminding my clients that we are working alongside each other in their best interest and not mine. I like to thank my clients for being vulnerable with me and that it is a privilege for them to allow me to have a look into their complex lives. I will never claim that “this is a safe space,” because I believe that safety is subjective. I hope that my presence and my work will ultimately meet my client’s version of safety.
So what do you think? Are you ready to take your next steps towards finding the self you want to become with me?
