Therapy for Depression & Anxiety
There are many seasons in life. Some are good and easy, while others are more challenging and difficult. In difficult seasons, you can feel anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, depressed, or in general, just not like yourself. Life can seem hopeless and you can feel powerless and exhausted just getting through the day. You’re not quite sure how to get out and feel like you’re drowning. If you’re experiencing this right now, know that you are not alone and that this isn’t the end of your journey.
Let’s talk about it. I will walk with you through these hard feelings.
Therapy for Pregnancy, Postpartum, & Mothers
The news of pregnancy feels different for every woman. For some, it is that dreaded surprise you never wanted. For others, it is the biggest gift to be shared with the entire world. A trite and simple “congrats!” really doesn’t capture the complexities and nuances of your experience. However you’re feeling about your pregnancy and motherhood journey, I am there with you.
If you’re a first-time mom, there are many adjustments during your pregnancy and also during the postpartum period. Sometimes these adjustments can trigger feelings of grief, depression, anxiety, overwhelm, anger, sadness, loneliness, and guilt. Sometimes, you can even experience these transitions as traumatic. The new demands of motherhood may leave you wondering how you’re going to do it all.
Your mental health can really take a toll during this period, so please reach out for help if you need it! Our culture and society do a poor job of adequately supporting women through the birthing experience. Let’s build a care team around you during this vulnerable time in your life.
You are not alone. Let’s work together to process the ups and downs of your unique journey as a new mother. I commit to being there to provide you with support, encouragement, and advocacy however you experience your pregnancy and postpartum.
You—mama, are an amazing wonder woman!
Therapy for Engaged / Newly Married Couples
You met the love of your life and now you want to get married / or married —great! Except, wait, what is marriage exactly? How do you live with another person who has a totally different set of life experiences, habits, and needs? How do you manage your new in-laws and conflicting family expectations? You want to prepare yourself for the “happily ever after”, after the honeymoon phase is over.
I can hold a space for you and your partner to explore together the intricate nuances of becoming “us” in marriage. Trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist with a Restoration Therapy certification (level 2), I can work with you to identify your relational pain points and help you develop healthier relational patterns early on.
Therapy for Relational, Marital & Family Conflict
As humans, we are made for relationships. That is why relational conflicts can feel so painful, debilitating, and overwhelming. Whether you are struggling with friends, with your partner, or with your family, I can work with you to identify ways to move forward when you feel stuck towards a greater connection.
As a marriage and family therapist, I am trained in systems thinking to help you navigate the dysfunctional dynamics and patterns of your relationships in order to find more helpful paths forward.
Let’s figure it out together!
Therapy for Creatives, Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) & Empaths
As a fellow sensitive soul & creative myself, I can understand that you often feel “big” feelings and are much more sensitive to the beauty and iniquities of the world around you. As you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, it can feel overwhelming, stressful, and cause you to lose motivation for creative work. Let’s work together to overcome creative blocks, nurture your creative child, learn self-compassion, befriend your inner critic, and gracefully grow beyond rejections.
Therapy for Immigrants, Child of Immigrants, & Asian Americans
You live in two (or multiple) cultures—sometimes it gets exhausting and stressful to manage the expectations of both, especially when they clash. Where do you really fit in? Whether you identify as 1st, 2nd, 3rd+ generation immigrant, or anywhere in between, the immigration history of our families can shape our present experiences in America. Growing up and living between the cultures as an Asian American woman and a child of immigrants, I understand the many struggles of acculturation and living a dual life when it comes to navigating spaces, family dynamics, and trying to “fit in”.
I will sit with you to process your own family’s history and context to explore how you can feel more empowered in your unique identity.
Therapy for TCK / CCK (Third Culture Kid, Cross-Cultural Kid) Issues
Travel used to be a thing you do whenever you felt bored, stressed, or sad. The pandemic has complicated things; friends & family suddenly feel further out of reach. You are struggling to cope.
You are a chameleon of sorts, you know how to code-switch well depending on the social context you’re in. You speak multiple languages fluently, sometimes people are shocked at how well you speak. You went to an international school somewhere in the world, navigated different cultures frequently, experienced things many people could never understand, and lived a life of high mobility as a child/teen. Normal for you means moving every few months or years. You have friends all over the place but often have trouble keeping in touch. The world’s your oyster—literally! Yet, deep down, you are confused as to why you still sometimes feel lonely, depressed, grief, and restless.
The life of a Third Culture Kid / Cross Culture Kid comes with many blessings and challenges. Let’s process your life together to unravel the joy and grief, the global community and local isolation, the trauma and the restlessness often plaguing the TCK / CCK experience. The good news is that you are highly adaptable — let’s find new ways to thrive during the pandemic.
Therapy for Faith & Spirituality Issues
If you are desiring and looking for a place to safely explore and discuss your faith & spirituality, I am here to go on that journey with you.
Faith is important to you, but the spiritual or religious community you grew up or have been a part of has been becoming a drain that has ceased to be life-giving. The community doesn’t feel quite like a community and you’re not sure where to look next. You’re not sure what you believe anymore. We can work together to process your confusion, disappointment, frustrations, anger, and hurt and find new meaning and hope while honoring your faith & spiritual beliefs.
Therapy with Me
The most important aspect of therapy with me is that you feel seen, heard, respected, supported, and safe in our sessions. The world gives you enough reasons to feel otherwise, and I commit to creating a space where you can come and be authentically yourself.
My approach is strengths-based and empowerment-focused. I see myself as a facilitator and coach of your healing and growth. I am driven by curiosity, clinical intuition, and utilize a variety of techniques informed by my education and training in sessions to harness your gifts and promote your prospering.
Although every client is unique and requires a different approach, I work primarily from a client-centered, experiential, somatic, and mindfulness orientation. With children, I utilize creative approaches such as play therapy. I am also a certified 200-hr yoga instructor and like to guide my clients toward greater awareness of the mind-body connection.
Therapy is an investment in your future. Wherever you are today, there is always hope for a better tomorrow! I would be honored to journey with you towards your desired life goals. If you feel we might be a good fit for working together, please reach out! I am so excited to meet you soon!
