Hello and welcome. I’m Michelle.
I desire to help teens, adults, couples, and families find their inner strengths in a safe environment where you can explore and understand yourself and your loved ones more deeply. I encourage you to explore and recognize feelings and patterns that are no longer serving you and your relationships. Together, we can work to understand these patterns and create new ways to cope and connect to yourself and to others. Finding your freedom from perfectionism and your self-doubt.
Do you feel like you’re never good enough? As a friend, as a partner, as a family member, at work or at school? Do you constantly feel behind despite your accomplishments? You think to yourself, only if I could be a little more perfect or better, I’d be satisfied. If these thoughts are constantly ruminating on your mind, you may be struggling with perfectionism. Although it’s great to strive for self-improvement, these inner dialogues can lead to self-doubt and self-destruction if the root causes are not examined. These doubts could eventually negatively affect the way we see ourselves and others as we may begin to have an unhealthy outlook on life.
If you are feeling stuck, I can help you begin a journey of self-understanding by helping you recognize why you feel the way you do. Together, we can explore your past and identify the root causes of your emotions, thoughts, and behavioral patterns that make you feel stuck. I understand that it could be extremely challenging to name and talk about uncomfortable and challenging aspects of life. However, through this process, we can create a more positive outlook and develop a healthier inner dialogue that can bring positive changes in your life.
Therapy for Bicultural and Multicultural individuals and families
Family relationships are complex and being a part of a multicultural family can be even more complicated. Whether you’re experiencing challenges due to the varying cultural expectations, assimilation, challenges that come from adjusting to new cultures or lifestyles, I can help you navigate through the challenges. As a 1.5 generation Korean-American, I can understand and relate with people whose stressors come from cultural expectations and differences.
In both American and Asian cultures, shame can be one of the biggest barriers that keep clients from experiencing breakthroughs in their lives. Being seen, understood, and known can feel scary or uncomfortable even though it could bring tremendous healing. If you were to work with me, I utilize the family systems approach to create a safe space to unpack your experiences. Together, we will work towards an increased understanding of one another and find your inner strengths.
A place where your teen can feel safe and build strength and confidence
You love your joyful and happy teenager. Yet lately, their behavior changed and they seem different. Do they seem more anxious, moody, sad, or easily angered? Are you feeling concerned about their poor eating or sleeping patterns or levels of isolation? Whether they lack the motivation to do things that they used to love or they seem uninterested, these may be signs that the teen is seeking support.
Teenage years are critical times where teens experience a multitude of challenges as well as psychical and psychological changes. They could be struggling from societal pressures, academic pressures, cultural differences, language barriers, or other stressors that are at times hard to name and talk about with trusted adults. All of these can deeply impact a teen if they are not processed in a safe environment and eventually, it could result in greater levels of anxiety, depression, and/or trauma that can impact daily functioning. If you see any of these behaviors, it is so important to connect your teen to a professional therapist.
My priority when it comes to working with teenagers is to create a safe and consistent space where they can explore their unique inner world. I want to help them to feel empowered to find their inner voice and guide them to a greater understanding of themselves. I can help your teen develop healthier coping skills and other tools that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

I wanted to become a therapist as a result of my multicultural upbringing and experiencing healing through supportive mentors. I desire to give people a safe space to share their stories and support them in finding their true strengths and identities.
I received my Masters’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and I have extensive experience working with children, teens, couples, and families in community mental health organizations and school settings.
In my practice, I utilize components and tools from Evidence-Based Treatments such as:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – to identify cognitive distortions through thoughts, feelings, and actions
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) – to help process traumatic experiences
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy – to help you process traumatic memories and adverse life experiences
Furthermore, I am trained in:
Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Interpersonal Neurobiology – which is a developmentally responsive, play-based mental health intervention for children ages 3-11 who have social, emotional, behavioral, or relational challenges using a relationship-based approach. I utilize CCPT when working with children in order to provide a safe and consistent therapeutic environment in which a child can experience full acceptance, empathy, and understanding from the therapist and process inner experiences and feelings through play and symbols.
My clients describe me as a supportive, fun, and trusted therapist. I understand and empathize deeply with those who come from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. As a therapist, my ultimate desire is to provide a safe and supportive environment for my clients and provide unconditional support.
