A support group to share experiences, more deeply understand social anxiety, and learn tools to cope.
TIME
75-minute evening sessions on Thursdays, 5:30PM - 6:45PM PT | 7:30PM - 8:45PM CT | 8:30PM - 9:45PM ET

GROUP GOALS
To learn, explore, and apply Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions in the context of social anxiety. To find community and help each other in the journey of healing, self-exploration, and self-empowerment.
WEEK 1
Understanding Social Anxiety
- Discuss confidentiality and establish ground rules for group safety and participation
- Psychoeducation around social anxiety and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
WEEK 2
Challenging Negative Thinking
- Identify and explore common thinking traps
- Explore alternative ways of thinking
WEEK 3
Coping with the Feeling of Anxiety
- Explore the meaning we attach to anxiety
- Learn tools and skills to cope with anxiety
WEEK 4
Overcoming Avoidance
- Learn about how avoidance reinforces anxiety in the long-term
- Discuss how we can safely and effectively approach situations head-on
WEEK 5
Building Confidence Through Gradual Exposure
- Psychoeducation on the concept of exposure
- Explore behavioral experiments and visualization as tools to help approach anxiety-inducing situations
WEEK 6
Unlearning Core Beliefs
- Learn about and explore core beliefs and explore how they shape social anxiety
- Discuss how to shift and challenge unhelpful core beliefs
WEEK 7
Strengthening New Beliefs
- Explore how to build and strengthen new core beliefs
- Discuss aligning behaviors with new core beliefs
WEEK 8
Maintaining Progress & Closing
- Process our experience as a member of the group, highlight any insights or major takeaways
- Normalize setbacks and explore maintenance of progress

- You are seeking this group as a replacement for trauma therapy. This group is a support group, rather than group therapy and is intended to be a supplement to individual therapy.
- You are actively self-harming in ways that require medical attention
- You are experiencing suicidal ideation and require a higher level of care than a support group offers
