I’m glad you’re here. I’m Malia.
Hi! My name is Malia and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe that meaningful change happens when people feel genuinely understood, supported, and accepted. I became a therapist because I’m passionate about helping people to make sense of their experiences, strengthen their relationships, and build lives that feel more authentic and fulfilling. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, life transitions, burnout, relationship challenges, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to create a space where you can slow down, feel heard, and move toward lasting growth.
I primarily work with adults, though I also enjoy supporting children, adolescents, and families. My clinical training has focused on treating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, stress, self-esteem concerns, and interpersonal and family relationship challenges. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University, where I received comprehensive training in evidence-based, relational, and trauma-informed approaches. I strive to tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs, recognizing that no two stories are the same.
Working With Me
I believe therapy works best when it feels like a collaborative partnership. My approach is warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental, while also being thoughtful and goal-oriented. I strive to create a space where you can show up as your authentic self without feeling like you have to have everything figured out. Together, we’ll explore the patterns, experiences, and strengths that have shaped you, helping you better understand yourself while developing practical tools for meaningful, lasting change. I also take a neurodiversity-affirming approach, recognizing and honoring the unique ways people experience, process, and move through the world.
Every person enters therapy with different goals, so I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs. Depending on what feels most helpful, our work may include processing difficult emotions, exploring relationships and life experiences, building coping strategies, challenging unhelpful patterns, or developing new ways of responding to life’s challenges. Above all, I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of the healing process. My hope is that you’ll feel supported, empowered, and genuinely understood as we work together toward the life you want to create.
Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety can show up in many different ways. You may find yourself constantly overthinking, feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities, struggling to quiet your mind, or putting immense pressure on yourself to get everything “right.” For some, anxiety can make it difficult to enjoy the present moment, navigate relationships, or feel confident in everyday decisions. Whatever your experience looks like, you don’t have to face it alone.
My clinical training has equipped me to work with individuals experiencing anxiety across a variety of settings and life stages. I take a compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach, recognizing that anxiety often develops for understandable reasons and serves a purpose, even when it begins to feel overwhelming. Together, we’ll work to better understand the underlying patterns contributing to your anxiety while building practical tools to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself. My goal is to help you move beyond simply managing anxiety and toward creating a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and aligned with your values.
Therapy for ADHD
Living with ADHD can impact much more than attention or organization. It may show up as feeling overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities, struggling with time management, difficulty starting or completing tasks, emotional overwhelm, or constantly feeling like you’re falling behind despite trying your best. Many people with ADHD have spent years feeling misunderstood or believing they’re simply “not trying hard enough.”
I take a neurodiversity-affirming approach that recognizes ADHD as a unique way of experiencing and interacting with the world—not something that needs to be “fixed.” Together, we’ll explore strategies that work with your strengths rather than against them while building practical tools to support daily life, relationships, work, and emotional well-being. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, reduce self-criticism, and create systems that feel realistic and sustainable.
Therapy for Burnout
Burnout often develops gradually, leaving you feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected, and overwhelmed by responsibilities that once felt manageable. Whether your burnout stems from work, caregiving, school, perfectionism, or simply carrying too much for too long, it can make it difficult to feel motivated, present, or like yourself.
In therapy, we’ll work together to better understand the factors contributing to your burnout while exploring ways to restore balance, reconnect with your values, and create healthier, more sustainable patterns. My approach combines self-compassion with practical strategies to help you manage stress, establish boundaries, and make space for rest without guilt, allowing you to move forward with greater clarity and resilience.
Therapy for Relationship Issues
Relationships have a profound impact on how we see ourselves and experience the world. Whether you’re navigating conflict with a partner, family member, or friend, struggling with communication, setting boundaries, or noticing recurring patterns in your relationships, therapy can provide a space to better understand these experiences and create meaningful change.
As a relational therapist, I believe our relationships—past and present—shape many aspects of our emotional well-being. Together,
we’ll explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, strengthen communication and interpersonal skills, and help you build relationships that feel healthier, more connected, and aligned with your needs and values. My goal is to support you in developing greater confidence, self-awareness, and fulfilling connections with others.
I believe that each person’s story is shaped by their unique experiences, identities, relationships, and strengths. I strive to approach therapy with curiosity, compassion, and openness, creating a space where clients feel seen and supported as their whole selves. My hope is to help clients feel empowered to better understand themselves, embrace their strengths, and create meaningful change in their lives.
If you’re ready to explore your experiences, build greater self- understanding, and create meaningful change, I would be honored to support you on your journey.
