Arnold Kim, MS
Children, Teen, Adult, Couples, & Family Therapist
I help individuals, couples, and families work through the heavy stressors that show up as a constant in their lives by working towards a plan that best suits their personality and goals. My clinical background has exposed me to many paths — depression, trauma, identity questions, anxiety, relational tension, grief, shame, even navigating difficulties around sex and intimacy. I’ve seen how those threads can feel isolating, confusing, or shameful. My hope in therapy is that you feel seen, understood, and empowered to reclaim parts of yourself that have felt lost or muted.

Hi there. I’m Arnold!
I’m a former marketing manager turned psychotherapist, and over the past 5+ years I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people through big shifts, heavy emotions, and times when life feels overwhelming. I believe each person’s story is deeply unique, and I hold a genuine curiosity and respect for who you are, where you come from, and what you’re hoping to heal or build. Growing up as a Korean-American with immigrant parents, I often connect meaningfully with clients navigating bicultural, immigrant, or cross-cultural identities.
Working with Me
Therapy with me is a collaborative journey. I hold a safe, nonjudgmental space where your vulnerability is honored. From our first session, we’ll begin by listening — what you most wish to shift, what you carry, and how you already find ways to cope. Then together, we’ll co-create a plan rooted in your pace, personality, and goals.
I draw from several evidence-based tools (like ACT, CBT, Brainspotting), and also integrate approaches like DBT, Psychodynamic, Grief Therapy, Play Therapy, and Gottman-method couples work. But more than any modality, what matters most is how you feel held and heard — that I adapt to your needs, not the other way around.
How might it feel in session?
- You might come in with a sense of confusion or heaviness, not knowing exactly where to begin — that’s okay.
- I’ll support you in naming what matters most, in small steps.
- You may feel challenged as we explore hard emotions, or safer as we explore what’s been hidden.
- My role is to reflect what I see, respectfully push when needed, and walk beside you as you discover new narratives and possibilities.
Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression
At some point, many of us find ourselves stuck in a loop — replaying painful memories, comparing ourselves to others, or feeling like we’ve lost our sense of direction. The weight builds slowly until it becomes too heavy to carry alone.
In our work together, we’ll make space for the parts of you that have learned to survive by holding it all in. Through gentle curiosity and grounding practices, we’ll begin to untangle what’s underneath the anxiety or sadness, and rediscover what it feels like to breathe, to rest, and to find purpose again. Healing isn’t about erasing the past — it’s about learning that you don’t have to live trapped by it.
Exploring Your Inner World with Brainspotting
Sometimes words aren’t enough. Our bodies often remember what our minds try to forget — flashes of emotion, tension, or images that rise without warning. Brainspotting is a method that helps access those deeper layers of experience stored in the nervous system.
During Brainspotting sessions, we slow down, notice where emotions live in the body, and allow healing to unfold in a natural and often profound way. Many clients describe the process as unlocking something that’s been waiting to be released — bringing a sense of lightness, relief, and clarity that talk therapy alone might take much longer to reach.
Couples Therapy
Relationships invite both the deepest love and the deepest challenge. When communication breaks down or conflict lingers, it can feel like you’re speaking different languages. In couples therapy, my goal is to help both of you feel heard, understood, and connected again.
Whether you’re struggling with communication, intimacy, parenting, finances, or navigating extended family, we’ll create a space where difficult conversations can happen safely. Together, we’ll learn to listen differently, repair disconnection, and rebuild a foundation rooted in empathy and trust — one that allows both partners to feel seen and valued.
Let’s Walk Together
Taking the step to reach out is one of the bravest things we can do. If you’re reading this and something in your heart says “this might help,” I would be honored to support your path toward healing, wholeness, and a more connected you. Too often, people extend their hand out to force you out of the hole you’re feeling stuck in. I hope to jump into that hole with you so we can explore these issues together.
