Nadia Islam, PhD, LCSW is a clinical supervisor with the Yellow Chair Collective and Entwine Community. She has been licensed to practice independently in California since 2008.
Pre-licensed behavioral health practitioners, including associate social workers and marriage and family therapist interns, provide therapy to individuals and couples under my supervision. I also instruct graduate students who are completing practicum requirements for their master’s degrees in social work or marriage and family therapy. As a licensed clinical social worker, my practice emphasizes cognitive-behavioral approaches including motivational interviewing, problem solving, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
My early career focused on direct practice and program development to empower individuals who have experienced domestic violence. More recently, my roles have called for leadership in tele-mental health service delivery, clinical supervision, and social work education. Across multiple contexts, my purpose has been to increase each organization’s capacity to provide evidence-informed care through cultural humility.
